DSMQ work across the Gladstone region

Almost 30 years keeping Central Queensland running

Davey Service & Maintenance QLD is a locally owned, multi-trade contractor based in Gladstone. Four trades, two licences, one team — and a long memory for the buildings we've worked on.

Who We Are

A Gladstone business, not a franchise with a local phone number.

DSMQ is based in Gladstone, with almost 30 years of industry experience behind the team. Everything we do is delivered by our own licensed team — we don't subcontract the trades we advertise, and we don't drive up from Brisbane for the day.

Why Four Trades

The model exists because the alternative was frustrating everyone.

Most jobs in Central Queensland touch more than one trade. A split system installation needs a licensed electrician for the dedicated circuit and an ARC certified technician for the refrigerant work. A solar install needs switchboard capacity that often isn't there. A cool room build needs power supply and isolation before the plant means anything.

The industry norm is to specialise in one and subcontract the rest — which is how a two-day job turns into three weeks of coordination between companies who each blame the other for the delay. We built DSMQ to hold every relevant licence in-house instead. It's a harder business to run and a much simpler one to buy from.

  • One quote, one team, one invoiceNo coordinating between trades, no second call-out fee, no gap where each contractor waits on the other.
  • Problems found at quote stageBecause we assess the electrical side too, switchboard limitations surface before installation day rather than on it.
  • No incentive to upsell one tradeCovering all four means we've no reason to steer you toward the service we happen to sell. We'll tell you what the job actually needs.
  • Accountability sits in one placeIf something needs revisiting, there's no argument about whose work it was.
How We Work

The things clients actually notice.

None of this is remarkable. It's just consistently done, which in this trade turns out to be the differentiator.

We turn up

Booked time, arrived time. The most common complaint about trades in this region isn't price — it's silence and no-shows.

Fixed written quotes

Itemised before we start. The number you approve is the number you're invoiced. No call-out surcharge appearing at the end.

Compliance documented

Electrical work completed to AS/NZS 3000 with a Certificate of Testing and Compliance issued on completion, every time.

Honest advice

When a repair approaches replacement cost on ageing equipment, we say so — even when the repair would be the easier sale.

Local knowledge you can't subcontract

Gladstone is a hard environment on equipment, and understanding why is most of the job. Salt-laden coastal air corrodes condenser coils and mounting hardware at Tannum Sands, Boyne Island and Agnes Water. Summer humidity pushes undersized air conditioning past its duty cycle without ever properly dehumidifying. Industrial dust loads filters and condensers faster than any manufacturer's service interval assumes.

A contractor who doesn't work here every week doesn't design around any of that. We've been repairing the consequences of it for decades, which is why our recommendations tend to cost slightly more up front and noticeably less over the life of the equipment.

We're still here in five years. That shapes every recommendation we make.

Residential, commercial and industrial

Our work ranges from a single powerpoint or split system in a Gladstone home through to switchboard upgrades, commercial fit-outs, cool room installations and scheduled preventative maintenance contracts for local businesses and industrial sites.

The mix matters. Domestic work keeps us across the housing stock and its quirks — the pre-1990s switchboards, the additions wired by someone's mate, the coastal properties on their third condenser. Commercial and industrial work keeps us across three-phase, plant, controls and the compliance obligations that come with them. Each side makes us better at the other.

Where we work

We're based in Gladstone and regularly service the wider Gladstone Regional Council area including Calliope, Boyne Island, Tannum Sands, Beecher and Mount Larcom, along with Biloela in the Banana Shire, Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy on the Discovery Coast, and Rockhampton.

If you're not sure whether we cover your address, call us — we're often already working nearby. See our full service areas.
